The artist: Born in 1970 in Medina del Campo in the northwest of Spain, photographer Miguel Vallinas has produced images for industry, television and advertising for over 30 years. He trained at the School of Photography and Cinema (EFTI) in Madrid, where he still lives today. Alongside his commercial activity, Miguel Vallinas develops personal art projects that have afforded him the chance to exhibit in Hispanic galleries but also abroad, notably at the international Affordable Art Fair. Recently, he presented his series Segunda Pieles in London, then in Hong Kong. His work has also been widely published in specialized magazines, such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or The Guardian. An accomplished artist, he finds inspiration in all kinds of subjects, whether contemporary architecture, urban landscapes, or portraits.

Retrato 44 & 58: The Second Skins collection created in 2014 depicts a fantastical world in which taxidermized animals have taken the place of individuals. With the intention of investigating "the animal inside all of us", the photographer positions them in full-length poses in front of his lens, as though they were real models. Their clothes serve as second skins, each sporting sophisticated styles of dress. The artist humorously questions our preconceived ideas regarding identities and appearances in the face of social diktats. Comprising 50 photos, the "Segunda Pieles" collection has earned the photographer worldwide recognition.

Location: Retrato 58 is the first thing you see on the first floor as you enter the corridor from the stairwell. Opposite room 101.
